The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for the safe and cost effective operation of the manufacturing line and manufacturing cells in support of the company’s products. The MFG supervisor is a first line supervisor with the authority and responsibility of product cost, budget scheduling and quality adherence.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
•Work with the Planning Group and Manufacturing Manager to establish production goals and manage performance of the employees and work centers to achieve set goals.
•Create and maintain various reports and charts to effectively track work completed and performance of each employee and work center.
•Prepare daily and weekly status reports and inform company management of production trends, status and effectiveness.
•Develop and maintain training plans ensuring each employee involved in manufacturing can perform their assigned responsibilities in a safe and cost effective manner.
•Enforce company policy, attendance, appearance and performance goals for the department.
•Establish quality objectives and goals for the department.
•Develop monitoring tools and controls to effectively control costs and establish methods to prevent fraud, waste and theft of company assets and consumable tooling.
•Strive to reach and maintain production goals minimizing overtime and continuously improving the production process.
•Ensure required equipment preventive maintenance program goals are met each month and develop implementation and tracking tools to effectively monitor the preventive maintenance program.
•Evaluate the effective use of the ERP system by each department employee. Establish measures and controls to ensure each person is trained and accountable for accurate data input.
•Participate in implementing company strategic plan goals, quality program initiatives, lean manufacturing techniques, good housekeeping practices, corrective action implementation, quick changeover initiatives and other company-wide initiatives aimed at improving productivity and increasing profitability.
•Must be a dynamic individual who excels working in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing enviroment with a focus on continuous improvement.
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Experience and strong understanding of machining, machine tools, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
•Minimum of 15 years experience in a manufacturing environment in leadership roles with demonstrated success in achieving production goals.
•Effective interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written at multiple levels of employee and customer organizations.
•Demonstrated decision-making and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekend work as assigned.
•Basic knowledge of OSHA, Safety, and Environmental regulations.
•Experience and familiarity with ISO 9000 program operation.
•Demonstrated skills of team building, conflict resolution, innovation and change within a manufacturing environment.
•Experience using ERP software and a demonstrated understanding of the MS-Office Suite of productivity tools.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize assignments.
•Problem solver with the ability to provide out-of-the-box solutions.
•Associate or higher degree; degree in Business or related field strongly preferred.
•Certification from a technical school or certified program as a master machinist.
•Certification or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
•APICS certification as CPIM.
