Product Champion HR7-00121

Job Purpose

The product champion is responisble for overseeing the developement and commercialization of a specific products. The PC must ideitfy features, applications and benefits of product relative to the competition and quantify target markets in which to deploy the new technology.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Liaises with Operations, Engineering, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing in order to ensure successful product developments and launches.
  • Provides technical input in product development and commercialization initiatives.
  • Provides technical support for new products.

  • Develops and implements a Product Launch Plan, assessing the market, assisting with training, and assistance with product launch strategy and plan.

  • Implements effective measuring techniques for products that adhere to corporate quality specifications and all references to industry standards.
  • Evaluates existing and new products to reduce cost and improve manufacturing methods and marketability, product effectiveness, ease of use, set up, and repair.
  • Manages a products transition from conceptual design through development and into production.

  • Develop new product sales presentations and strategy for assigned product delivery.

  • Responds to customer inquiries via such methods as phone, through on-line networks, and/or in person.

  • Plans, schedules, and makes periodic customer visits providing technical support/training, making sales calls, reviewing customer impact failures and determining the necessary corrective actions related to products.

  • Assists in the production of written operation and maintenance documentation and manuals.

  • Communicates with company officers, department heads, and others as necessary to insure circular communication inside organization of any customer issues and to assist with the company's response to customer’s problems.

  • Assists in develop training and competency requirements for operations personnel.

  • Ensure compliance of standard operating procedures, health, safety and quality standards.

  • Provide detailed reports as required by senior management.

Required Skills/Experience

  • BS Degree (or equivalent training and experience) in Engineering or Computer Science.

  • High School Diploma or the equivalent.

  • Minimum ten years of relevant industry experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Able to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel. Able to provide improvement to processes as required.

  • Able to understand and implement the business development management and process of launching a new or improved product into the industry.

  • Able to present to the executive team a business case for bringing a new idea or concept to the company. This includes providing marketing data, estimated costs for development, estimated costs for manufacturing, and estimated costs for marketing and selling that idea or concept.

  • Able to present technical presentations which involve the research, development, and launch of divisional products to employees and customers.

  • Excellent technical writing ability.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong understanding of oilfield related topics pertaining to the cased hole completions
