Job Purpose

Will be involved in special projects such as modifying existing equipment or installation of new equipment.   Assists the Maintenance Technician Level 2-P to maintain the facility’s manufacturing equipment, vehicles, buildings and grounds through the utilization of the Maintimizer CMMS(computerized maintenance management system) work order system.

Performs various mechanical job duties in relations to repairing, replacing, installing and or removing.

Maintains facility’s manufacturing equipment, vehicles, and buildings and grounds through the utilization of the Maintimizer CMMS(computerized maintenance management system).work order system.  will also be involved in special projects such as modifying existing equipment or installation of new equipment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician: 

  • Abides by the company’s policies
  • Thoroughly completes the weekly generated equipment preventative maintenance work orders according to the written instruction under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or an appointed Maintenance Technician Level 2.
  • Assists the Maintenance Technician Level 2 to trouble shoot, repair, and prove repair in order to return equipment to service.
  • Receives instruction on how to document problems, trouble shooting techniques, repair procedures, and results in order to educate fellow maintenance employees should the circumstance repeat.
  • Learns to scope repair work orders for time and materials needed to complete the task.
  • Completes general maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Has a continuing effort to gain knowledge in the trades necessary to execute prompt and reliable service to increase the efficiency of the maintenance department.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Promptly responds to equipment failures, trouble shoot, repair, and prove in order to return equipment to service.
  • Assists with the training of Maintenance Technicians Level 1.
  • Documents problems, trouble shooting technique, repair procedure, and result in order to educate fellow maintenance employees should the circumstance repeat.
  • Scopes repair work orders for time and materials needed to complete the task.
  • Orders parts/tools needed for specific jobs.
  • Maintains machinery and equipment being used.
  • Schedules preventative maintenance for building structures.
  • Completes all applicable paperwork for the department as necessary.
  • Corresponds with all departments involved in any maintenance needs.
  • Complies with safety and quality policies and procedures and is not be afraid to speak up when they are aware of non-conformances.
  • Has knowledge of and can read blueprints and schematics.
  • Takes initiative to learn and increase knowledge of mechanical equipment.
  • Finds and utilizes contractors for work beyond normal abilities at facility.
  • Utilizes time wisely to complete tasks.

Required Skills/Experience

The Maintenance Technician:

  • Should demonstrate aptitude in one or more maintenance trades
  • Able to receive and carry out instruction with a positive attitude.
  • Shall have at least 2 years experience in one or more maintenance trades.
  • 3-5 years maintenance experience
  • Automotive maintenance experience required.
  • An understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems, manufacturing processes and materials is a plus.
  • Problem solving ability
  • General knowledge of computer data entry in order to document equipment repair task procedure history in CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
  • Able to comprehend instruction, either written or verbal, from both the Maintenance Supervisor and/or the appointed Maintenance Technician Level 2 during the training period.
  • Able to on occasion,  interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Able to provide service and repair to the equipment, building and grounds as required.

 

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Welding, cutting, brazing, HVAC, Pneumatic Equipment, Hydraulic power systems, electrical wiring up to 480 volt and Computer controlled mechanical systems.

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems, manufacturing processes and materials.

  • Able to interface with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Able to provide service and repair to the equipment, building and grounds as required.
  • Passionate about safety for self and others in the company.

  • Able to meet physical requirements of the position, including occasional lifting, standing, walking, sitting, bending and grasping small parts.

  • Able to cooperate; work well with others as a team or well as an individual.

  • Able to self-motivate and multi-task.

  • Able to work independently.

  • Able to work with and communicate with all management team members.

  • Excellent problem solving ability.
  • Background in managing personnel a plus.
